MEET RENO
I am Reno Abihai, and I’m running to represent the community that raised me and shaped who I am: Kalihi, Pālama, Chinatown, Iwilei, and Sand Island. Growing up in Kalihi-Pālama taught me the value of hard work, responsibility, and caring for one another.
For the past nine years, I’ve mentored youth through Kakaʻako Boxing Club, helping young people build confidence, discipline, and direction. With over 25 years of leadership experience across healthcare, technology, and community services, I understand how decisions made at the Capitol affect families at home.
I’m running with heart and purpose, to serve our community, protect opportunity, and ensure District 28 remains a place where families can stay rooted and build their future with pride.
EMPOWERING YOUTH. STRENGTHENING COMMUNITY.
Kakaʻako Boxing Club has been more than just a gym — it’s been a place where young people can find belonging, discipline, and confidence.
Through coaching and mentorship, I’ve had the privilege of working closely with youth, helping them build resilience, stay focused, and develop the kind of character that carries far beyond the ring. Watching them grow has been one of the most meaningful parts of my life.
What started as a place to teach boxing has grown into something much bigger: a space where young people are supported, families feel connected, and our community grows stronger together.
Coaching youth has deeply shaped my approach to community leadership. It has shown me the importance of investing in people, creating positive opportunities, and supporting the next generation so that both individuals and our community can thrive.
